Dear Member,
CLUB HOST
Yes, the new rugby season is nearly upon us! It is now a few years since Jimmy Lockhart introduced the 'Club Host'. I am convinced that having a ‘Wise Old Owl’ around makes the rugby club a much better place to both play and socialise in on match days. I am continuing to carry on this successful innovation for the coming season. I would like to thank you for all your help in the past and ask you if you could manage one Saturday again this season.
Enclosed you will find a rota with your name against a proposed Saturday. It would be very difficult to consult everyone individually, so I would ask if you could liaise with someone else to swap dates if your date is not convenient. Please do NOT try and advise me of these changes, BUT IT IS WORTH CHECKING WITH SOMEONE AT THE CLUB BEFORE YOU DO IT TO CHECK THERE IS A GAME – PARTICULARLY FOR LOWER SIDES. If your date is going to be inconvenient every year, do let me know. I am the fixture secretary, and will know what is happening and you are welcome to check with me on 01263 820088. Do please advise me or David Hitcham of any changes to your contact numbers, email addresses, etc., as this will help in contacting you in event of a late change. I will ring you if there is a change. Providing there are not too many changes in the list; Steve Dye or one of the other captains would be another point of contact. This rota has worked exceptionally well - with your help, I hope we can repeat this and have the benefit of a well-run club. If the club is ready and functioning, it certainly lifts moral both on and off the pitch and attracts new players and members to the club. When we are all so busy, a little help from many is very much appreciated.
I will rely on you or your stand-in turning up. I will only try to contact you if there is NO game.
Please find attached a list of the 23 tasks that I hope you might ensure are carried out. Please remember the 21st task, which is to organise a raffle if possible, as this of course generates those desperately needed club funds. Finally, many thanks in advance for being available - It really does help the Club. I look forward to seeing you there. Kind Regards.
Alan Gibbs
Hon.Fixture Secretary
