Holt 29 – Lowestoft and Yarmouth 22
A super start to the season. We fielded a strong side, and played well. Two tries were scored in the first half, by Teddy Jones and Aaron Cole (on his debut); one a jinky run from the half-way line, the other a roll over the line from the back of a maul, both went unconverted. The opposition kicked a close range penalty and scored a converted try just before the break.
The second half was a rollercoaster ride with the lead changing several times. Lowestoft scored first and converted, following some soft tackling 5 metres out. Then came the turning point, a Youngsesque probing run by Turbo, led to him dashing over the line for our third try of the game. 17-15 to L+Y. What followed was two excellent individual tries. First Teddy Jones went over for his 2nd of the game, breezing through the L+Y defence from inside the twenty-two. Then Richard Saunders, showing his footballing skills, dribbled the ball 60 metres for an excellent break-away try. Both were converted. The opposition scored a consolation try, again following some soft tackling but the game was Holt’s!
