Humble beginnings at Holt RFC to full England International debut.

Firstly congratulations go to Freddie Steward on his starting selection for England yesterday against USA at Twickenham.
From understated beginnings at Holt RFC, to Leicester Tigers in the Premiership, Freddie made his senior debut as a replacement in January 2019 against Northampton Saints.
Fast forward to 04 July 2021 and Freddie has emerged as the England rugby fullback - no 15 - at the tender age of 20!

Freddie said he felt "very nervous" at the start of the game, however he played the full 80 minutes of the 43-29 victory, scored a try, provided two assists and looked assured under the high ball. This incredible performance on his international debut has attracted praise from the national media:-

"Freddie Steward excelled on England debut ... and is the most likely new cap to be part of the next World Cup squad" (Telegraph)
"It is early days but he looked so assured at this level .... one of those with a strong chance of breaking in to the full-strength squad" (The Times)
"An excellent debut ... he dominated the aerial contest repeatedly and used his frame well as a carrier" (Rugby Pass)
"Classy" (Daily Mail)

One amazing achievement, one big day, one very proud family and one very proud club.
We’re backing Freddie for many more caps to come and we'll be cheering him on all the way!
