Deadline is now Sunday 18th March

We saw this as a fantastic opportunity to help get people excited about the things that are important to us at Holt rugby club and it’s our opportunity to connect and inspire our local community.
- Paul Williams, Club President

Even if you don't think you are a great artist, please let us have your basic idea to give a "GoGoHare" a Holt Rugby Club identity. We are in very safe hands as the Artist commissioned to paint our hare is non other than Mik Richardson, who has previously painted; gorilla's, elephants, dragons, ducks, people, snowdogs, book benches, pigs etc! He could take your idea & work with you to transfer it onto the statue.

North Norfolk’s premier rugby club has hatched the idea of a design competition to bring its members closer together and connect with its local community.

Holt RFC has teamed up with the local children’s charity Break and purchased a GoGoHare sculpture for the club to design. Some of you may have seen it dressed in Holt kit with a scrum cap or may remember seeing the GoGoDragons or GoGoGorillas?

Peter King, a mini’s coach at Holt rugby club, who has helped coordinate the event said: “Hares frequently appear in children’s tales and are often a subject of legend and folklore. We want our young people to show some imagination and help bring our sculpture to life by devising a design that reflects the values of rugby and of our club.”

“The sky’s the limit and we’d encourage all our members to tap into their imagination and come back with some creative, brain buzzing ideas and suggestions.”

Paul Williams, the club president, added: “Our aim is to create an event that all generations across the club can enjoy, especially our children and young members, and offer something that encourages group participation and brings our members together.”

“We saw this as a fantastic opportunity to help get people excited about the things that are important to us at Holt rugby club and it’s our opportunity to connect and inspire our local community. We also plan to display all the masterpieces for Mums, Dads, Grandparents and friends to see at the club later in the season.”
The winning design will be painted onto the hare by renowned artist, Mik Richardson

Competition rules:
• The competition is open to everyone across our membership, whether male or female, from our budding gladiator artists to our first team designers.
• Each year group from the junior section will have a winner and runner up and all the mini’s that enter will be invited to join us for an Easter egg hunt at the club on Sunday 25 March.
• There will be three overall category winners from the mini’s, youth and senior sections – with the latter category open to one parent or carer per junior member.
• Our aim is to combine the best elements of the three winning designs into a final design with the help and interpretation of an artist and our judging panel.
• Please choose and complete two of the hare templates with colour, illustrations and notes to explain your ideas – download the design templates below.
• The designs should promote three core messages: rugby, Holt and an owl(s)
• Completed entries need to be handed into the competition box behind the bar in the club house by no later than midday on Sunday 11th March 2018.
• Don’t forget to include your name, age and a parent’s contact telephone number on your design form please.
• The winning designs from each junior year group will win an Easter egg or rugby ball and the overall winners in our youth and mini’s section will each receive a year’s free membership for the 2018/19 season. The winning senior entry will receive two tickets to watch Leicester Tigers which has been generously donated by one of our sponsors.
• The decision of the judging panel will be final. The panel will be comprised of our President, an independent artist and the artist commissioned to paint the sculpture.

GoGoHares is run by Norfolk children’s charity Break, who make life better for vulnerable children. They believe that every child and young person needs a home where they feel safe and loved, so they can grow in confidence and look to the future with hope. That’s why they work tirelessly to help young people in care, children with disabilities and families who need support, finding a way through difficult times and opening the door to brighter tomorrows.
