With Guest Speaker Dean Richards

Thank you to Vice-Chair Geoff Flather for the below.

Last Friday 26th April was Holt Rugby Club’s Annual Dinner at Bridge Road and supported by a 130 strong group of members, friends and sponsors.

We were royally entertained by master of ceremonies, Roger Day and rolling with laughter from stories from our guest speaker Dean Richards, who painted a vivid picture of the glory rugby days of yesteryears. It was an enormous pleasure and honour to host Dean at Holt RFC; thank you.

There were many senior players who attended the event, and pictured above with Dean are Colts players Arthur Loose and Jimmy Gibson. Tom Jackson (TJ) our 1st XV Captain gave an exemplary speech, thanking all those who have assisted the senior sides throughout the season.

We were extremely well fed, as usual, by Johno & his catering team, with Ali & his bar team ensured glasses were never dry.

Congratulations to Jeanette Edwards for being awarded the Chum Preston Cup for her outstanding contribution to the club not only over the last 12 months but also for her 5 years in the post of club Secretary. Jeanette will be standing down from her role at the AGM. Jeanette followed on from Ali Gibson who won the same award last year. This was met with the great support and applause from everybody present.

Thank you to our event sponsors Wensum Pools, Agrii, Chemspec, Paynes Crop Nutrition and Brown & Co. The generosity and support you have shown to the club not only tonight but throughout the years is truly valued.

Thank you to all those who donated auction prizes, these include Rocky Bottoms, Ali Gibson, Royal Cromer Golf Club & The Brisley Bell; thank you also to Webbs Jewellers of Holt for the raffle prize and lastly to Bakers and Larners, our main club sponsors and providers of our lovely cheese board.

By all accounts everyone had a great evening, with lots of positive feedback, ending as all nights should with a few celebratory drinks at the bar - and a few antics thrown in!
