Many happy returns to our fantastic 1st team Captain, Ashley Woods, who is 30 on 31 December.
Chris Harrison, who was Captain in 87/88, 88/89 & Club Chairman in 2007/8, 2008/9 pays this tribute to Ashley;
"Ashley Woods is an original protégé of our mini’s and youth. He has been incredibly loyal to the club, even when he was away at university he came back and played most weekends. He has been through the high’s and low’s with the first team but has always given 100%. I think this year he has been exceptional, not only galvanising the interest of his long term team mates Sam Wright and Tim Allen and of course keeping Bruce Van Poortvliet on form. It is his demeanour with the younger players that has impressed us all the most, he cares, none so more when Joe, Henry and Tom lost their Granny & Ashley with Phil Sharpe were amazing in their support. His time and energy have been relentless for the club especially when you think he has a wife and very young family and a demanding Job. Thank you Ashley, well done and a very happy 30th" .
Head Coach, Ed Steed adds; " Since I joined the club Woodsy has consistently played 1st XV rugby at Holt. As a player and this season as captain he has been a superb example to other players both on and off the field, he is consistent and is fiercely devoted to the club which is there for all to see. Ashley is determined to do all he can to help support and develop the club at all levels and the club is proud to have someone of his standing and ability as a part of it."
