Holt retain the Cubitt/Maule Cup

WEST NORFOLK 26 HOLT 34, Sat 29th April 2017

Holt ended the season on a high note, retaining the CUBITT/MAULE CUP
by eventually overcoming a very spirited West Norfolk side at their North
Wootton grounding this annual fixture.

Holt's coaches Ed Steed and David Bailey used this opportunity to try out some
new faces and combinations. It was the first game in Holt colours for new signing
James Wyatt while youngster Titus Carrol showed his versatility when he moved to scrum half during the time Bruce van Poortvliet was off the field injured.

Holt were soon in the lead from a try by Carrol converted by Wyatt. West drew level when Matt Rust went over for a try converted by Quinton Huston.West then took the lead with a Lee Parry try converted by Huston.

Holt responded strongly with tries from Josh Simmons and Alastair Hughes and a penalty and conversion from James Wyatt to give them a half time lead of 14-20.

West started the second half strongly with 2 tries and a conversion to put them in the lead at 26-20 .Holt again raised their game and were rewarded with tries by Phil Davies and Alastair Hughes both of which were converted by James
Wyatt to seal the game. The cup was presented Mary Cubitt [wife of Holt's first ever captain the late Bill Cubitt ] and George Maule to Club Captain,
Jim Riley, who was unable to play due to a head injury sustained in last weeks Banham Cup victory over Fakenham in this annual fixture
