Quite a challenging day all round

Dagenham 66 : 22 Holt 1st XV (Away league loss)
Holt 2s 21 : 26 Lakenham Union (Home league loss)
Walsham Warriors 36 : 19 Holt Tertians (Away league loss)

Many thanks go to Head Coach Phil Sharpe for the below match report. Thank you to Director of Junior Rugby Nev Drewry for taking the trip down and once again to young Mark Drewry (pictured) for his work on the touch.

Our long journey became even lengthier due to an accident on the M11, leaving us with only 30 minutes to warm up before kick-off. Despite the time crunch, we managed to complete our warm-up just in time. As we introduced ourselves to the referee, we learned that it was his first time officiating at level 6.

The game itself proved to be quite challenging to decipher and maintain continuity in. Unfortunately, our team became our own worst enemy, particularly in terms of defense. We struggled in certain channels, leaving ourselves vulnerable to the opposing team's back line, which exploited these weaknesses.

On a positive note, our set piece performance was solid. However, our attacking decisions sometimes left much to be desired, and we ended up causing harm to our own efforts. We acknowledge our strengths but also recognize the need for improvement. This experience will serve as a valuable lesson for us.

Despite the challenges we faced during the game, there were some standout individual performances that provided us with valuable positives to take away from the match. These exceptional efforts from certain team members demonstrated our team's potential and individual skill.

Oliver Pearse showcased remarkable agility and creativity in the backline, consistently breaking through the opposing defense and creating scoring opportunities for the team. His ability to control the ball and make precise passes was truly impressive.

Additionally, James Spratt displayed outstanding defensive prowess, making crucial tackles that prevented Dagenham from making ground in the 13 channel.

These stellar individual performances not only highlighted the talent within our team but also served as motivation for all of us to continue working hard and improving. As we move forward, we will build upon these positives and strive for even better teamwork and coordination on the field.

Looking ahead, we hope to have a more consistent first-team lineup next week as availability is expected to improve. It's crucial that we address our commitment to away games and ensure that we are fully prepared for such challenges in the future.

Congratulations to our Moongazerale Man of the match James Spratt, sponsored by Dalbo. Playing out of position he carried hard, tackled well and made the long trip.

Well done to our 2nd XV and 3rd XV Men of the match, Aaron Tagg and Alex Lockhart
