"The one club ethos is a way of life for us"

Holt 1st XV 26 : 48 Harlow (home league loss)
Holt 2s 35 : 24 Beccles 1st XV (home league win)
Crusaders 2s 10 : 24 Holts 3s (away league win)

The atmosphere was electric yesterday with 3 high stake games. The 1st XV took on 3rd placed Harlow RFC who have had a really impressive start to the season with several places separating the two sides, the 2s took on Beccles RFC who were 2 places above in 4th place, whilst the Tertians played the Crusaders 2s, away.

Congratulations to the 2s and 3s who both came away with big wins, and to the 1st XV who came away with a bonus point loss scoring 4 tries against a very well drilled semi-professional Harlow side. There will be no match report from Martyn this week, however we thank Head Coach Phil Sharpe for the below: -

"I'd like to commend our team on another outstanding performance, which serves as a testament to our continuous growth and development. It was a game where we exhibited remarkable resilience, maintaining unwavering focus on our objectives and goals throughout the entire 80 minutes of intense play. Achieving the bonus point against a professional opponent is a significant achievement, one that bolsters our confidence in our ability to compete at this level.

What stood out during this match was the exceptional leadership within our squad. Our team demonstrated an incredible sense of unity and direction on the field. The decision-making process was astute, and our defensive prowess was a source of immense pride. Our commitment to our defensive strategies was nothing short of outstanding, and it's a testament to the hard work and dedication we put into our training.

This performance is not just a fleeting moment of success but a stepping stone in our journey to further excellence. We will use this as a solid foundation upon which to build. It's a reaffirmation that we are moving in the right direction, inching closer to our ultimate goals.

Special mention must be made of our captain, Tom Jackson. He led the team with the grace and poise of a true champion, motivating and inspiring our players both on and off the field. His leadership was invaluable, and his commitment to the team's success was evident throughout the game.

Additionally, I'd like to highlight the remarkable debut of Tom Thrower, who displayed immense talent and dedication. His debut culminated in a memorable score, which is a testament to his potential as a key player in our squad. We look forward to nurturing his talent and watching him develop further.

Our 2nd and 3rd teams continue to impress, showcasing their impressive skills and remarkable teamwork. It's not just about winning games; it's about the numerous battles fought within these games that truly demonstrate their commitment and dedication. Our training regimen becomes increasingly demanding, a reflection of the high standards we uphold. This level of dedication is mirrored in the fierce competition for spots in our senior squads, highlighting the depth of talent within our club.

In the coming weekend, we eagerly anticipate the performances of our Colts, who will be taking on L&Y and Woodbridge. They represent the future of rugby here at Holt, and we take immense pride in nurturing and developing the talent that will carry our legacy forward.

It's worth noting that fielding three senior sides on a Saturday is a rarity for some clubs and an impossibility for most. However, for Holt, this accomplishment is a testament to our unity, commitment, and the enduring passion for the game. We take pride in our ability to not only maintain three senior sides but to do so successfully.

The hard work, dedication, and passion that our players and coaching and support staff put into our club are truly commendable. It's a reflection of the vibrant rugby community we've built, and it ensures a bright and promising future for Holt Rugby Club. We remain dedicated to fostering talent, maintaining our high standards, and continuously striving for success on and off the field. It's essential to acknowledge the vibrancy and dynamism of our thriving minis and youth sections. Each Sunday, our fields come alive with the boundless energy and enthusiasm of these young players. They serve as a living testament to our club's 'one club' ethos, a philosophy that underpins our commitment to nurturing rugby talent from the ground up.

The 'one club' ethos is more than just a slogan; it's a way of life for us. It signifies that we are a united family, from the youngest minis to the most experienced seniors. We all share the same passion for the game and the same commitment to upholding the values of rugby. It's this unity that makes our club truly special".

Congratulations to the 1st XV Moongazerale Man of the Match Tom Thrower, sponsored by Bakers & Larners of Holt, our debutant Colt who scored a fantastic try and was solid in defence. Congratulations also go to the 2nd XV Man of the Match James Horth and 3rd XV Man of the Match Duncan Ayers.
