Chris Brewer - 1944-2026
A founder member and player in the inaugural match for Holt RFC in 1961, sadly passed away on 18 June following a long illness.
Chris was Holt RFC’s first scrum-half with a strong pass and lively running; playing for the 1st XV for a decade, he and his wife Vicki were involved in helping to set up the Club in the formative years. Suffering from rheumatism in cold weather meant a relatively early retirement from playing, which enabled Chris to concentrate on a career in farming, becoming a successful potato grower supplying East Anglian merchants for some 45 years.
Chris’s sons Ben and Adam, and his grandsons Jack and Toby, all joined and played for Holt RFC over the years, providing a family legacy for an increasingly popular local rugby club; all of whom became well known in the area.
Chris enjoyed following rugby, cricket and politics, and many of his honest and ribald comments on matches and elections became the stuff of legend; he was never one to hold back his thoughts!
Although suffering from a debilitating illness for eight years he remained stoical and philosophical, enjoying our regular ‘mardles’ about everything, and nothing in particular!
Chris will be much missed by Vicki, Adam, Jack and Toby, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

Past President of Holt RFC
