Before he left Gresham’s School, David became a very tough and uncompromising rugby player; a strength he carried through when joining Holt RFC and the first years of the Club’s existence. He played in the first ever match in December 1961; one of the ‘Originals’.
David suffered his illness for many years with uncomplaining fortitude, attending many functions until very recently. David's smiling, laughing demeanour was an inspiration to all as he carried on his life in a positive and friendly manner through what must have often been an extraordinarily difficult number of years.
Sincere condolences from all at Holt to his wife Janet, daughter Ali, son Nigel, David's step-children, and his extended family and friends.
Please read this update of 26th Sept from David's brother Neville, a longstanding Holt RFC member himself of over 55 years:-
"A memorial service for David will be held at St Mary’s Church Whissonsett on Thursday October 20th at 2pm. The full announcement appeared in the EDP on Saturday 24th Sept. I would be very grateful if you would pass this on to the members".
