Holt 1st vs HAC Match Report

Claire Robson2 Apr - 10:35

Our last home match of the season - Saturday 28 March 2026

It hasn`t been the easiest or best of seasons for Holt, to round off the home games for this season the visitors to Bridge Rd were the Honorable Artillery Company, otherwise known as HAC. Holt sitting fairly comfortably at the bottom of the table without a win , HAC second in the table with18 wins from 20 games, a daunting task awaited the boys!

It didn't take HAC long to show why they are at the top of the table. Within 5 minutes they crossed Holts line to score the first of their 13 tries! Playing a superb high speed off loading game they barely allowed Holt any possession. However Holt defended superbly throughout and scored 3 tries of their own through Dan Ekpe, Joe Harisson and George Woodhouse. Holt to their eternal credit never gave up and attacked HAC with great enthusiasm whenever they were able. Holts scrum and lineout both worked well but the sheer pace and accuracy of the high speed game played by HAC would have comfortably overwhelmed anyone!

Another wonderful game to watch. Holt although coming a very bad second were never anything less than competitive , when they got possession they were always a threat, they had HAC on the backfoot on numerous occasion's throughout the game but didn't quite have the ability to finish it off. HAC are an extremely good outfit , they play a brand of rugby that is fantastic to watch, and when it clicks is virtually impossible to defend against, and it clicked on Sat!

Next week an over 30s team travel down to old rivals Diss to play the annual Harrison cup game. The following week all three teams hope to be in action. The firsts wind up their season away to Woodford. The seconds and Thirds are both at home v Beccles and Lowestoft and Yarmouth respectively.
