WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP on Friday 18th November for one of the best Christmas Lights switch-on in Norfolk - click Love Holt for the official website.
Historically, Holt RFC have always provided a volunteer workforce to set up and man the road closure barriers in and around Holt Town Centre. In return we get a 50% split on all bucket collection takings from the night, and this normally proves quite lucrative for our club funds.
We need urgently your help please to volunteer if you can on the night. Even if you can only spare a couple of hours; many hands make light work! Please ask everyone you know. We would like to get volunteers from all sections of the club - Senior players (there is no Saturday game), Colts, Y&M parents, the Exec committee and wider Club members.
Previously we’ve managed to recruit a large group of volunteers which worked well. The minimum number of volunteers we need is 8, manning 4 barriers in pairs – getting 16 helpers would just be fantastic. Simon & I will cover our barrier for the whole duration. Any volunteers who can only give short bursts of time can be used to give breaks to those doing long stints.
Contact: Can everyone wishing to pledge help, please contact me Jeanette Edwards by emailing secretary@holtrfc.com (click here) or by calling/messaging mobile 07811 447266. For those of you who are available and interested, below are the evenings details: -
Meeting Point - All volunteers will need to report initially to myself at a meeting point which the organiser will confirm to me this week: you will then be allocated to a barrier. For those that can be available early to set up the barriers, this meet will be at 3.30pm.
Parking on the night - Unfortunately, there is no allocated parking for volunteers. You will need to use the usual spots, but these may be very limited due to road closures.
Locations - We need to cover 4 barriers from 4pm - approx 8pm: -
(1) Station Road by the Funeral Company / Kerridge Way.
(2) Cromer Road by Peacock Lane / Adnams.
(3) High Street by Barclays Bank
(4) Albert Street by the Estate Agent (Exit from Albert Street carpark will be turning right)
Bucket Collections - Each barrier gets a collection bucket, from which as a club get to keep 50%! We generally raise in excess of £200 every year for the club so it is well worth doing.
Dress code and equipment - Dress appropriate to the weather conditions on the day. Ideally if you have anything promoting Holt RFC i.e. a hat, scarf or training jacket etc, please wear it, but we will supply High Viz tabbards. We will also supply a walkie talkie to each barrier so we can keep in touch with each other. Complimentary tea/coffee and maybe even something a bit stronger will be available to those volunteering for more than 1hr.
Outline Programme - High Street entertainment from 5pm, Horse Race 5.30/5.45pm, Santa Parade 6.30pm, Christmas message 6.50pm, Fireworks & lights switch on 7pm, Party band 7pm - . It’s such a happy fun Christmassy atmosphere – Please do get in touch with me!
Ideally, we need lots of volunteers to make it an enjoyable night for everyone, with a Rota of short stints, so please come forward ASAP.
Many thanks for your support.
