It is with great sadness that we record the untimely death on 19 July of Mike Baker, Managing Director of the CT Baker Group, the company which has for the last 15 years through Bakers & Larners, generously supported Holt RFC as the Club’s Main Sponsor.

The Committee of Holt RFC send their sympathies to Mike’s family, and colleagues throughout the CT Baker Group.

Being a Holt man, Mike has maintained a keen interest in Holt RFC since the early days of the Club and supported us regularly over the years. In 2007 he agreed that his company Bakers & Larners become Main Sponsors of Holt RFC, and this generosity continues through the coming 2019/2020 season. Mike was particularly proud that Holt RFC was recently awarded ‘Club of the Year 2019’ by the Eastern Counties Rugby Union; there are over 50 clubs in the region.

Mike enjoyed the bonhomie and banter that was always engendered at League lunches and other functions at the Club, participating in sometimes heated discussions of local and national interest; always prepared to give his considered opinions.

His many friends at Holt RFC will miss his lively company and sparkling good humour. He leaves a lasting positive legacy with Holt RFC, and through the unstinting service he has given to Holt and Norfolk.

There is a private funeral service and this will be followed by a memorial service at Holt Church on Monday 5th August at 12.30pm.
