We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day! The sun shone throughout and the spirit of the Norfolk Touch community rose to match it!
After weeks of hard work from our Dragonflies, many of whom are still very new to the game, it was brilliant to see that effort clearly paying off. There were some lovely flowing performances, growing confidence across the squad, and plenty of moments that showed just how quickly the team is developing.
More than that though, the day was a wonderful eye-opener for everyone new to Touch, both players and spectators. It showed the fun, the fitness, and especially the non-partisan friendship that makes this game so special.
Mixed-sex, multi-generational, welcoming and full of good humour, while still being incredibly competitive, it really did showcase what Touch is all about.
The overall feeling was clear. Everyone enjoyed it, and everyone wanted more of the same.
Thankfully, with the Norfolk Touch Development Series set to continue through the summer, those wishes will be fulfilled.
A huge thank you to every team, referee, player, supporter and volunteer who helped make the day such a success.
Anyone who would like to get involved is very welcome. No experience is needed, just come along to Holt RFC on a Thursday evening at 7pm and give it a go.
For anyone who can’t make Thursdays but would still like to be involved, our coach Soul Phoenix also runs a session on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm at Fakenham Academy.
