Thank you from Martin Watts - minis chair:
A lovely but slightly chilly day at Holt RFC for the first part of the minis festival.
51 teams, with a total of 498 children came to Bridge Road from Essex, Northampton, Bedford, Leicestershire, Suffolk and Norfolk for a great day of minis festival rugby.
A big shout out to all the volunteers that helped make today happen. Our car parking volunteers packed a couple of coaches in the car park then around 550 cars in the overflow parking, well done all.
We had some great help from the under 13s today, providing food and drinks from the BBQ and drinks stand. The cake stall was a massive success, mainly due to the number of cakes, cookies and biscuits that were donated. Thank you to those that took control of this stall.
The minis festival is always a good days rugby for the children and it is a privilege to work with all of the clubs that came along, our staff and of course all of the volunteers that came forward, stepped up and helped me through this.
Now it's time to get the final preparations put together for part two on Sunday 13th April, which will be my last as minis chair. It's always a long day for me (covering nearly 17km, 21K steps in the day), but it is worth it when you hear some of the feedback from the people who attended such as this one:
"Hello. We just wanted to say a big thank you for letting us take part in the festival yesterday. Our players had an amazing time, creating memories that will last forever. It was very organised. Thank you."
Thank you once again to Adam Pryke for his photography on the day.
We at Holt would like to thank Martin for all his many hours it takes in organising this (and previous years) festival and his unflappable nature even when teams arrive that we weren't expecting but 'Super Martin' to the rescue will sort it out!
