Neils funeral is on Friday 2nd August at 11 am at the Cromer Crematorium.

Holt RFC reports that one of its most iconic and popular members, Neil van Poortvliet, has passed away.

He was an outstanding rugby player, mainly as second row or prop. He was an exceptional leader on the field, captain of the 1st XV, which, during his tenancy, won the Norfolk Cup.

He was also Vice Captain of the Owls, and represented the county at rugby, achieving at the time a record of 50 caps.

He was a great mentor for younger players, a lifelong supportive club member with his family, his sons Jake and Bruce following in his footsteps of being great rugby players. Holly and Evie, both talented hockey players.

Neil was a respected farmer, an innovative exponent of top down cultivation replacing the plough as primary cultivation, a talented field sportsman, and an accomplished tennis player.

Holt RFC send our deepest condolences to Hilary, Holly, Evie and Bruce.
