Before the season started, I had a meeting with Julie Brooks at Kingswood, during this meeting Julie offered a free "experience" day for one of the Holt RFC minis teams. It was decided that this would be offered to our U9s and this is something that we hope to arrange with the U9 teams goings forward. This is all part of us working closer with Kingswood through the year and not just for the Festival at the end of the season.

On Saturday 29th Oct Sammy Wright and I took the U9s to Kingswood, Overstrand. The day started at 9am with a safety briefing before moving on to "Caving" where Callum (our Kingswood leader for the day) organised hide and seek, overall team time trial and groups of three time trial through the caves. After drinks we then moved on to "Laser" where we had two teams (red and blue) with a VIP on each team. The aim was for the teams to capture the opposing teams VIP and bring them to Callum. They had a few games of this then we replaced VIPs with cones.

Once everyone had eaten lunch we moved on to "Nightline" this was a very good team and communication building exercise. They were all blindfolded and formed a line, Callum then gave instructions to the lead of the line to guide them to an obstacle course where they had to follow a rope through, climb over, under and through obstacles, whilst communicating to the person behind, what is coming up.

The last activity of the day was "Aeroball" or basketball on a trampoline! Another good activity and enjoyed by all, but we did have a champion at this, Luke didn't lose a match.

Last night we had many messages from parents saying how much the children enjoyed the day, always nice to hear.

I would like to thank all at Kingswood, Overstrand who made this day happen and we look forward to arranging next years' Experience Day for the U9s.
