Volunteer Helpers Needed: Holt Christmas Lights

Volunteer Helpers Needed: Holt Christmas Lights

Jeanette Edwards3 Oct 2023 - 21:38

On Friday 17th November

Every year Holt RFC provides volunteers to set up and man the road closure barriers in Holt town centre. Each barrier gets a collection bucket and we keep 50% of the proceeds! Last year we raised a record haul of over £450 for the club, so it is well worth doing.

Please read on – with your help, this year we hope to raise anything from £1500 - £2,000!

Urgent - Many hands make light work! Please ask others you know if they are free on Friday 17th November. Like last year, we want volunteers from all sections of the club - 26+ to be precise, of Senior players, Colts, Y&M parents, the Exec committee and wider Club members please.

16 x Town Barrier & Bucket Volunteers: We must have a large group to make this work well, working in 2 shifts x 2 people / families each shift. Parents out there – your kids can work wonders collecting money!
Early shift – Be available from 3.30pm – 6.30pm
Later shift – Be available from 5.30pm – 8.30pm

10 x Car Parking Marshalls: To relieve the town traffic congestion, this year there will be a Park & Ride from Holt RFC, Bridge Road and as such we need a large of group adults to coordinate parking to make this work well; there could be upwards of 500 cars. In return, the club will receive £2.50 per car.
Shift – 4pm – 6.30pm

Contact: Can everyone wishing to help on Friday 17th November, please email me secretary@holtrfc.com (click the link) or message 07811 447266.

Parking on the night: We have no allocated parking for volunteers; park at mine & walk in?!

Barrier & Bucket Locations:
The 4 road closure barrier points to man are: -
(1) Station Road by the Funeral Company / Kerridge Way.
(2) Cromer Road by Peacock Lane / Adnams.
(3) High Street by Barclays Bank
(4) Albert Street by the Estate Agent (Exit from Albert Street carpark will be turning
right)

Dress code and equipment: Dress appropriate to the weather conditions on the day. Ideally if you have anything promoting Holt RFC i.e. a hat, scarf or training jacket etc, please wear it, but we will supply High Viz tabards. We will provide extra buckets this year too!

The event programme: This hasn’t been published yet – however the Santa Parade will start from Albert Street this year, and the fireworks & Christmas lights switch on will likely be 7pm.

WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE to raise as much money as possible from this event. It will be busy - let's make the organisation of it work well. It’s such a happy fun Christmassy atmosphere - I do look forward to hearing from lots of you!

Many thanks in advance - Jeanette
Love Holt
